Where Can Your Catamaran Charter Take You?

Your catamaran charter takes you through the heart of one of the world's most spectacular waterways. Cruise past the Sydney Opera House and under the Harbour Bridge for the iconic photo opportunity, then explore further afield.

Your skipper can drop anchor at Store Beach or Reef Beach — two of the harbour's most secluded swimming spots, only accessible by water. Head east past Watsons Bay and Rose Bay, or explore Middle Harbour for calm, sheltered waters away from the main harbour traffic.

If you want a waterfront lunch, stop at a harbour restaurant by water, or cruise past Darling Harbour and Barangaroo to see the city from a different angle. Every route can be tailored — that is the advantage of a private catamaran charter over a fixed tour.

What is included with catamaran hire?
Every charter includes a fully qualified skipper and crew, fuel, ice, esky space, glassware, plates, cutlery and BBQ gear. You also get access to paddleboards, pool noodles, a floating lilypad and Bluetooth sound system. Alila also has Starlink satellite WiFi. BYO food and drinks at no extra charge.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Yes — all our charters are BYO with no corkage fee. Bring your own food and drinks and we provide esky space, ice, glassware, plates, cutlery and BBQ gear. You can also pick up supplies from a bottle shop near the departure point on the day.
Can you organise catering for our charter?
Absolutely. We can arrange a BBQ cooked onboard by the crew, gourmet grazing platters ready when you board, or full catering with a dedicated host. You can also pick up food from a waterfront restaurant during the charter — your skipper knows the best spots. See catering options →
How many guests can Alila accommodate?
Alila takes up to 30 guests for day charters and up to 6 guests for overnight stays. If you need a larger or smaller vessel, we have boats in our fleet that accommodate from 6 to 49 guests. Browse all boats →
Where do charters depart from?
Charters can depart from any public wharf around Sydney Harbour. Popular departure points include Rose Bay (our home base), Circular Quay, Darling Harbour, Barangaroo, Manly and Watsons Bay. We arrange wharf bookings for you — just let us know your preferred location when booking.
Can we swim during the charter?
Yes — swimming is one of the highlights. Your skipper can anchor at secluded harbour beaches like Store Beach or Reef Beach, only accessible by water. We provide paddleboards, pool noodles and a floating lilypad. Swimming is weather-dependent and at the skipper's discretion for safety.
Can we stay overnight on the catamaran?
Yes — Alila is available for overnight charters for up to 6 guests. You will spend the night moored in a serene spot on Sydney Harbour, with 2 queen-sized cabins, 3 hot showers and full galley facilities. Bed linen, towels, tea and coffee are provided. Learn about overnight charters →
What happens if the weather is bad?
Sydney Harbour is sheltered and our catamarans are stable, so we operate in most conditions. Alila has a covered cockpit so light rain is not a problem. If conditions are genuinely unsafe, we will reschedule your charter or offer a full refund. We monitor forecasts closely and will contact you in advance if there are concerns.
How far in advance should we book?
Book 2 to 4 weeks ahead for weekend charters, especially during peak season (October to March). Weekday charters can often be arranged with shorter notice. For popular dates like New Year's Eve and Australia Day, book well ahead as these sell out months in advance. A 25% deposit secures your booking.
